In 2025, brokers are required to file Form 1099-DA with buyer gross sales, however not with cost basis of those gross sales in 2025. Starting with transactions that occur on or after January 1, 2026, brokers must report both gross proceeds and value basis on Form 1099-DA for covered digital asset gross sales. Transactions involving non-covered property will continue to be reported with out price foundation data.
