Jim Prusinowski, is the founding member and managing partner of The Chilla Business Counsel, a leading New Jersey based law firm, which also has offices in New York & Pennsylvania. CBC has corporate attorneys who specialize in labor and employment matters. It is experienced in counseling businesses and non-profit organizations on all aspects of their personnel issues.

Jim primarily represents businesses serving as their fractional employment counsel. In this capacity, he represents business entities providing day-to-day guidance in managing employees and compliance with legal requirements. In his representation of businesses he assists with drafting policies and procedures, works with human resource teams to apply the policies, prepares employment agreements, advises clients concerning restrictive covenants, how to avoid wrongful termination and harassment claims, and defends businesses accused of wrongful termination of employees.

Jim regularly represents businesses concerning Department of Labor audits that review wage and hour claims, Family Medical Leave compliance, and independent contractor status. He also represents companies that have had New Jersey Department of Civil Rights – New York Human Rights Agency – Equal Employment Opportunity Commission complaints filed by current and former employees alleging harassment of discrimination in the workplace.

He assists businesses with their reputation management to ensure their brand is not improperly tarnished. Former employees, competitors and sometimes former customers can post false information about a company, which can be detrimental to its operations. He has successfully negotiated removal of false claims and litigated defamation issues to the New Jersey Supreme Court.

He is a traditional labor attorney who negotiates against labor unions regarding collective bargaining agreements; as well as conducted numerous grievance arbitrations related to claimed breaches of the union contract.

In addition to working with businesses related to their personnel, Jim regularly assists companies with business contracts such as between the business and sub-contractors, vendors, suppliers and client agreements. He also assists family owned and closely held businesses with managing day-to-day operations and corporate governance.
